ABOUT CAROLYN
I never started this journey thinking I would become a celebrant. I was busy raising a family and working in the real estate industry when one day my aunt called and suggested I become a wedding celebrant to marry a friend. She reminded me that when I was a little girl, I used to say I just wanted to marry people. That conversation planted the seed.
I went on to complete my Certificate III and IV in Celebrancy, and not long after, I performed my very first wedding — a Viking-themed ceremony. Everyone was dressed as Vikings except me, as I was trying to be very professional. The ceremony went beautifully, but I definitely didn’t score 10 out of 10 for my outfit that day! It was the perfect introduction to what would become my life’s work.
Since then, my business has grown mostly through word of mouth, which is something I’m incredibly proud of. After working in the funeral industry as a funeral director, I eventually made the decision to become a full-time celebrant when I was no longer able to do both roles together. That decision opened up a whole new world for me — a world of ceremonies filled with both joy and sorrow, love and remembrance, beginnings and goodbyes.
I have been a celebrant since 2011, and I truly love what I do. I help people find the words they want to say — the words said and unsaid — and deliver them in a way that is authentic, heartfelt and personal. Every ceremony is different. Some are formal and elegant, others are relaxed and down-to-earth, but all are meaningful and created to reflect the people at the centre of them.
One thing I love about my role as a Celebrant is the freedom it gives me to not only create but also to travel and experience. I get to spend time all over Western Australia conducting ceremonies in some truly amazing parts of the country.
Being a Celebrant is not just my job, it’s my passion and I truly love what I do. Being trusted with people’s most important moments in life is something I will never take for granted.

“Even as a young girl, I remember playing “weddings” with my siblings and forcing them to marry each other. I guess it was only a matter of time I took it on as a career!”
Why the Hummingbird?
The hummingbird symbolises joy, love, resilience and the preciousness of life.
It represents the happy moments, the sad moments and all the meaningful moments in between — which is why it perfectly reflects the ceremonies I create and the stories I help tell.
